About two hours into the 1967 24 Hours of Le Mans the Ford MK IV (number 1) and the Chaparral 2F (number 7) were closely matched and fighting for the lead, while the Ferrari 330P4 (number 21), some 4 seconds per lap slower, was already being lapped. However, in the early Sunday morning hours the Chaparral suffered transmission problems that a three-hour attempt at repairing the gear box proved unsuccessful.

The red Ford MK IV won the race, making it the first all American victory (American car, American drivers Dan Gurney and AJ Foyt). The Ferrari’s held on to finish second and third while the only other Ford MK IV that finished the race took fourth place.

Original is a 36" x 24" (91cm x 61cm), Oil on Canvas. Prints on UV-protected canvas are available in either the original painting's size or smaller. Prices include a standard 1.5 in. (38mm) satin black wood frame.
