Return of the Cat

Jaguar "C" and "D" versions won the 24 Hours of Le Mans race three ties in the 1950's, the last time in 1956.

Thirty years later, Tom Walkinshaw Racing (TWR) entered 1 XJR-6 in 1986,  and 3 XJR-8s in 1987 with a best result of 5th that year. Three XJR-9s were entered in the 1988 race. Number 2, driven by Jan Lammers, Johnny Dumfries and Andy Wallace won the race. The two other cars finished 4th and 16th.

The Porsche 962 shown in the background finished second, driven by Hans-Joachim Stuck, Dereck Bell and Klaus Ludwig.
